Role of News Bulletin

I still remember the Doordarshan channel, Doordarshan is an autonomous public service broadcaster founded by the Government of India founded in 1959. They used to telecast news for half an hour and everyone used to glue to the television sets to get the entire news . In the era of 80’s and 90’s DD news channel used to fantasize every one. It was the only viewing channel. They used to really broadcast news with simplicity and proper respect. I think media should understand the basic responsibility of telecasting news.

After the inception, of 24 hours news channel the coverage has increased and we get access to a wider range of information. But they don’t only report news they express their views, They call the guests and express the opinions. In which they forget that they are being watched nationally. It’s a national television. Several times reporters are biased and they do not encourage the one who they do not support. They do not allow them to submit their facts and figures. This is such a bad practise you don’t decide, let the audience decide what is right and wrong but reporters really provoke the audience by showing certain news which are not relevant. They should understand what is to be shown and what need not be covered but the real game is of TRP. No one cares as of how the news will be interpreted and what will be the after effects.

I come across certain reporter they call their guests and do not allow them to speak, only they are shouting at their top voices. What is the use are you really providing a piece of information or it is just a ball game to grab TRP. Media is very important as sometimes they deliver proper information which is sometimes very effective and help several people to get their rights. Similarly, there are always pros and cons to everything. But back when Doordarshan used to telecast news it was pure news not views being presented like today. In this simple broadcast, it in a manner of saying ‘united the country’. But the star attraction to the Samachar in Hindi and News in English was the way the news readers were seen on the small screen. Each having a characteristic appearance, distinct from the other, an unmistakable style of dress and a voice, diction, and delivery that could easily be distinguished as belonging to a particular news reader, even if one were not viewing the television, but just hearing the voice. They used to maintain particular decorum where everyone can relax, sit and enjoy the news.

Today watching the news is really stress. You will find reporters supporting one party and are judgemental about the other party. No one likes too much negativity. Everyone has their level of stress but if they present the news also at their top voices, fighting with each other, letting other people down, insulting each other it really spoils your mood. Why everyone cannot maintain an environment where everyone can respect each other. As they are being watched by the entire nation. I think media should be independent of the political parties and should deliver the true news which is in the favor of nation. They should not be biased and should take a moral responsibility of creating a healthy environment and should encourage healthy discussions. Media has no right to question the caliber of anyone. Their job is to deliver proper and true information and present true factors irrespective of any pressure.

The news media are those elements of the mass media that focus on delivering news to the general public or a target public. even the newspapers give you apt information with eradicating every spice from the news. They have the freedom of the press. Ethics is that of a moral right.

Five Core Principles of Journalism
  • Truth and Accuracy. Journalists cannot always guarantee ‘truth’, but getting the facts right is the cardinal principle of journalism. …
  • Independence. …
  • Fairness and Impartiality. …
  • Humanity. …
  • Accountability.
I think every media should abide by the above rules and present us with the best of knowledge which leads to the transformation into a better society. I know the job is difficult and everyone is trying  their best to deliver their best part but we can always keep everyone motivating to work on the good path.
